Endodontics, more commonly known as root canal treatment, is a procedure where the infected, hollow, internal part of the tooth is cleaned and disinfected. These infected teeth often cause severe pain that needs treatment to resolve the pain. Patients call our office when in pain, we prescribe antibiotics to help treat the pain, and schedule for evaluation to confirm root canal treatment will resolve the pain. Sometimes the tooth does NOT need this treatment but sometimes the tooth is far too damaged to repair and it has to be removed. If we catch the infection early enough, root canal treatment can help us SAVE the tooth from needing to be pulled! We numb the tooth and can clean it to resolve the infection painlessly! Rotary Endodontics is the way we perform root canal treatment, utilizing a specific, high tech, smart, electric handpiece. This tool makes the process faster and allows the dentist to perform the process with greater efficiency. We also use a tool called a Root ZX, that accurately measures the root canal length so we can avoid taking multiple xrays.
